WELCOME TO THE PARLOUR

Your first game of Schnapsen

You and Hazel each hold five cards. Click a glowing card, or press its number 1–5. A trick is one card each; highest of the led suit wins, unless a trump beats it. The winner leads next.

Open stock: either card is legal. The winner draws first. Closed or empty stock: follow the led suit and beat it if possible. If you cannot follow, play trump if possible.

Royal pair: announce a K + Q marriage before leading either royal. It is worth 20, or 40 in trump, and counts only after you win a trick. Q and J stand for the German Ober and Unter.

Trump exchange: on lead, exchange the trump J for the face-up card while more than two stock cards remain.

Close stock: on lead, stop drawing and commit to reaching 66 with your remaining cards. This is an advanced move; failure costs 2 or 3 game points under this source's rules.

Call 66: on lead, declare before playing. A correct call wins 1–3 game points: 1 if your opponent has at least 33 card points, 2 if fewer, 3 if they won no trick. A false call loses the hand. If nobody declares and the open stock runs out, the final trick wins 1 game point.

Use the three Study tables to try a marriage, forced following and a winning declaration. Undo rewinds your last action and Hazel’s reply. Press H for advice, U for undo or Enter to collect a completed trick. No timer; take your time.
